Taking The Reins – An Interview with Ward Stare and Danny Hoskins for 585 Magazine

Downtown at Spot Coffee, at a round table, sipping a cup of black coffee. Checking the time on my iPhone while reviewing over notes already taken on the two people I’d be interviewing, moments before they both walked in.

I turned to a clean page in my notebook, put the recorder in the middle of the table. Pressed record, and asked the first question. As they each spoke I scribbled key phrases into the pages, my frantic writing looking similar to a child’s first attempt at using crayon on paper – some absurd form of writing developed over the years while trying to get ideas down as fast as they come. The coffee helps the hand to keep up with the thoughts.
